Project Bridges Needs Your Support

As 2015 is rapidly coming to a close, we want to take a moment to thank you for your support and commitment to Project Bridges.

We prepare for 2016 with anticipation, knowing that God has a plan for us to continue developing & training leaders, encouraging unity in the body of Christ, strengthening youth & families, and transforming communities through service and evangelism.

As you can imagine, this is a great calling and we could use your help to support these efforts. We ask that you consider Project Bridges as you plan to make year-end contributions. There are a number of ways to provide financial support, which can be found on our website.

Thank you for your consideration!

Be All That God Has Called You to Be

Forty years ago, a high school diploma was all that was needed to ensure you had a good chance at developing a middle class life for yourself and your family. That has changed dramatically. Today, a college education has taken the place of the high school diploma and serves as the gateway to better options and more opportunity in the United States.

But with rising tuition costs, many are not able to go after an undergraduate or graduate degree. That is why Project Bridges places a high premium on educating Christian leaders and helping to make education more affordable.

Through the kind generosity and wonderful partnerships with Regent University and Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary and Graduate School, a 25% tuition discount is available to students from qualifying Bridges member churches and organizations.

This higher education discount has blessed several members under the Bridges umbrella. But, don’t take our word for it, here is some feedback from current students:

“Your financial generosity has allowed me to be one step closer to my goal and has inspired me to help others by giving back to the Prince George’s County community. I hope one day I will be able to help other students achieve their goal just as you have helped me.”
-Masters of Divinity Candidate at Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary and Graduate School
-Member Church: Greenbelt Baptist Church

“This scholarship has been critical to my progress, as my academic effort is primarily funded out of pocket. Without it, I would have had to rely on a loan and deal with high interest rates over a long payback period. Because of Project Bridges assistance, I will be able to complete my education with no associated debt.”
-Ph.D. Candidate in Organizational Leadership at Regent University
-Member Church: Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church

Project Bridges – World Vision Partnership

‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’- Matthew 25:40b

In our effort to reach the broader community, Project Bridges has developed an ongoing partnership with World Vision to meet the needs of the less fortunate.

In March 2015, eight Title I schools were served and they received brand new, quality school supplies. In June, we were able to distribute new, high grade, family & household products to a total of 8 community/faith-based organizations. Combined, these community/faith-based organizations and public Title I schools have served a total of 14,550 Children & Youth and 7,263 Adults.

It is our hope that by the end of October, we will be meeting the needs of 10 organizations and 14 Title I schools. To God be the glory!

Christian Counseling Resource for PB Member Churches

More and more, we are beginning to understand the magnitude of mental illness and how it is affecting individuals in our various churches and communities.

Published studies indicate that about 25% of all U.S. adults have a mental illness and that nearly 50% of U.S. adults will develop at least one mental illness during their lifetime. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that the most common mental illnesses in adults are anxiety and mood disorders.

Mental illness is real and it shows up in a number of ways, including depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, violence, and more. As we prepare for the holiday season and the long winter months ahead, we often see a spike in some of these behaviors. How is Project Bridges helping churches?

For more than 10 years, Safe Harbor has served as a Christian counseling resource for Project Bridges member churches including pastors, ministers, and lay members. With 20 locations throughout the Washington metropolitan region, you and/or your members can access confidential, culturally relevant counseling at a discounted rate.

Get the full details on how to tap into this resource from this Project Bridges partner. In addition, Safe Harbor offers a variety of workshops and seminars throughout the year that address a plethora of topics. You can sign up for their email list to stay abreast of upcoming events.
